The main building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is the best place to start any visit. There are 200 galleries to be seen in the main building alone of the museum. Visitors can start by exploring Renaissance paintings and then venture through the American collections that are present in the museum. The American collections in the museum includes art from examples of revolutionary period furniture to paintings from Winslow Homer. The main building is also the place to catch lectures and performances. Philadelphia Museum of Art's main building is so rich in art and information that it could take one visit to explore this building.

The Perelman building of the Philadelphia Art Museum is a newly renovated masterpiece that is being used to help modernize the museum. Visitors can see many fine exhibits on display that the Philadelphia Museum of Art has never put on display before. The Perelman building also includes many different amenities for visitors. This building house the study centers and educational rooms that make the Philadelphia Museum of Art at the cutting edge of education and advancement of the arts.

Both buildings of the Philadelphia Museum of Art are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am eastern standard time to 5 pm. The main building stays open Fridays until 8:45 pm. The museum runs a complimentary shuttle between its two buildings every fifteen minutes for the convenience of its visitors. Parking is limited at the museums. The best way to get to the museum is to use the public transportation of the city, Septa.
